FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, says the world football body disapproves of the proposed European Super League and that clubs involved could face consequences.
Twelve major clubs have launched plans for a new breakaway league which would drastically change football’s setup.
UEFA has also confirmed that a new format for the champions league will be introduced from 2024 with the number of clubs in the group stage increasing from 32 to 36.
The new format will see all 36 clubs brought together into one pool instead of the current system of four-team groups.

Chelsea Beat Real Madrid To Set Up All-English Champions League Final Against Manchester City
Chelsea defeat Real Madrid 2 – 0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, 3-1 on aggregate to set-up all English UCL final against Manchester City in Istanbul.
With goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount, Chelsea beat the Spanish side 2-0 in west London after a 1-1 draw in the away leg.
On 29 May, Chelsea will face Manchester City in the Champions League final in Istanbul after convincingly overcoming a fading Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel’s hosts were grateful to goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for two fine first-half saves from Karim Benzema but they were able to build on the 1-1 draw they achieved in Madrid when Timo Werner headed in from almost on the goal-line in the 28th minute after Kai Havertz had lofted a finish on to the bar.
Mahrez Fires City To First Champions League Final
Riyad Mahrez scored twice to complete Manchester City’s journey to a first-ever UEFA Champions League final with a 2-0 victory, eliminating Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 on aggregate in the semifinals on Tuesday.
City’s manger Pep Guardiola, who won the elusive title twice with Spanish giants Barcelona in 2009 and 2011, has made it to the final for the first time with Manchester City after he fell short three times with Bayern Munich and has taken until his fifth season at City to even reach the semifinals.
City will be favourites for the final after an outstanding campaign which has included seven straight wins in this competition, the first English club to achieve that feat.
The celebrations at the final whistle told the story as one psychological barrier was cleared, with one more hurdle left to negotiate before they can claim the holy grail.
Manchester City now stand 90 minutes away from glory and the trophy that has been in their sights since the day the club was transformed in September 2008.
