International Olympic Committee president, Thomas Bach, says covid-19 state of emergency in Tokyo will not stop the Olympic Games in July.

Bach did not give details of the numbers of spectators but says the I.O.C. has to be flexible and may need to make sacrifices to protect the lives of the people involved.

A South Korean court has sentenced a former top speedskating coach to more than 10 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting an Olympic champion, Shim Suk-Hee

Shim Suk-Hee, a star short track speedskater with four Olympic medals including two golds, accused former coach Cho Jae-Beom of rape in 2019.

He was indicted after she said she endured dozens of incidents of sexual abuse over the course of more than three years, starting in 2014 when she was 17.

Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has left the club after agreeing to terminate his contract with the club.

The 32-year-old defender has not made a premier league appearance since March last year and has not featured in a matchday squad in any competition in 2020-2021.

Sokratis is now free to speak to other clubs. Sevilla, Real Betis and Genoa have all shown interest.

He describes his time at arsenal as one of the best of his career.

Sokratis, whose deal had been due to expire at the end of the season, joined arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in July 2018.

He made 69 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.
