Javier Mascherano: Former Liverpool And Barcelona Midfielder Retires

Barcelona and liverpool former midfielder, thirty-six-year-old Javier Mascherano, has retired from football.  He has been playing or Estudiantes in his native Argentina.  He has won the champions league twice, and La Liga five times during a successful eight-year period at Barcelona.

Mascherano made one hundred forty-seven appearances for Argentina during a career he began at Argentine club River Plate.

D’Tigers kicked off their 2021 Afrobasket qualifiers with a comfortable 76-56 win over South Sudan at the Kigali arena on Thursday.

South Sudan fought back in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to 20-15, but D’Tigers showed their superiority in the final quarter taking the game 15-7 to win 76-56 with a 20-point margin.

Ike Ireogbu was D’Tiger’s most efficient player in the game, scoring 13 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and one steal.

With this, the Portuguese extended his overall goals record in the competition to 132.

70 of his goals have now been scored in home matches which have now seen him level with long-time rival Lionel Messi for the most home goals in the competition’s history.

Naples’ Mayor Begins Process To Rename Stadium For Maradona

The football world is mourning the death of football legend Diego Maradona. Argentina’s president, Alberto Fernandez has declared three days of official mourning of Maradona who died of a heart attack on Wednesday at the age of 60.

The Gimnasia coach was hospitalized early in November after complaining of low spirits and fatigue.

Maradona began his professional career with Argentinos juniors at the age of 16.

Mayor of Naples has started a formal process to rename the San Paolo stadium for Diego Maradona.

The city operates the stadium, where Maradona led Napoli to their only two Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990.
