IG Begins Commands’ Tour; Force Admits Cops’ Morale Low

Published

on

In a bid to boost the morale of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu is embarking on a tour of police commands across the country today, Friday.

The killings of some twenty-eight policemen by hoodlums who hijacked the EndSARS protests earlier this month is said to have dampened morale within the force.

The inspector-general of police is expected to assess the extent to which the hoodlums negatively affected the force after burning down police stations and looting government and private property.

The effect of the low morale could be felt on the roads in recent days as many police posts are abandoned and traffic stops scrapped.

Adamu will begin his tour in Abuja.

The minister said although zoning is not in the party’s constitution, party leaders had agreed on the zoning when the party was being formed.

Fashola has also advised party members to support the Mala Buni-led caretaker, extra-ordinary, convention committee, which he described as a product of necessity.

He says the caretaker committee must be respected because it is a by-product of the leadership crisis that engulfed the party.
