Ebonyi National Assembly Caucus Disowns Umahi

Published

on

Ebonyi State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the National Assembly has announced the caucus has disowned governor David Umahi over his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.

Chairman of the Ebonyi national assembly caucus and former governor of Ebonyi State, senator Sam Egwu, says Umahi’s reasons for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party is untenable.

He said national assembly members from the state would not abandon the PDP because of Umahi.

Egwu says governor Umahi should be the last person to defect because he has benefitted immensely from Pdp in the past.

Governor Umahi says he defected because the south east region has suffered what he describes as injustice in the pdp.

Meanwhile president Buhari describes Umahi’s defection as a bold move driven purely by principle rather than opportunistic motives.
