FIFA Threatens Legal Action Against Walking Football World Cup Organizers Over Name

FIFA have threatened the Federation of International Walking Football Associations (FIWFA) with legal action over their logo and plans to hold a World Cup.

The sport of walking football was started to encourage older persons to stay active and fit.

FIFA are concerned that the logo and hosting of the major tournament could confuse people and potentially cause financial damage to the game’s ruling body.

AFN Awaits WA Decision After Appeal Court Ruling

World Athletics is expected to rule on whether Ibrahim Gusau remains the president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

On Friday, the court had dismissed an appeal filed by the ministry of youth and sports development.

The AFN had been in crisis after the wing of the federation led by Gusau declared autonomy from the sports ministry last December.

Another faction led by Gusau’s vice president, Olamide George, suspended him as president.

Frank de Boer has been given a two-year contract as Netherlands head coach to replace Ronald Koeman.

Frank de Boer won 112 caps and played at two world cups for the Netherlands.

Barcelona Agree To Sell Striker Luis Suárez To Atlético Madrid

Barcelona have agreed to let striker Luis Suarez join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan agreed terms on a reduced salary with atletico after a move to Juventus fell through because of passport issues.

Reports say Barcelona chairman Josep Maria Bartomeu blocked the deal because he did not wish to sell to a Spanish rival.

But, after meeting with Suarez’s representatives, the Catalan club backed down, with the striker threatening to air his grievances to the media.
