Mikel Obi Returns To England To Join Stoke City

Stoke City have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel on a short-term deal.

The Nigeria star joined the club after leaving Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor during the Coronavirus crisis in March.

Mikel is set for his second adventure in the championship with stoke city, having previously played for Middlesbrough in the second half of the 2018-2019 season.

He is Stoke city’s fourth-summer signing ahead of the new season after Morgan Fox, James Chester and Steven Fletcher.

33-year-old Obi retired from international duty a year ago after playing 91 matches for the super eagles and scoring six goals before calling up his time in the national team.

AFN Awaits WA Decision After Appeal Court Ruling

World Athletics is expected to rule on whether Ibrahim Gusau remains the president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

On Friday, the court had dismissed an appeal filed by the ministry of youth and sports development.

The AFN had been in crisis after the wing of the federation led by Gusau declared autonomy from the sports ministry last December.

Another faction led by Gusau’s vice president, Olamide George, suspended him as president.

Frank de Boer has been given a two-year contract as Netherlands head coach to replace Ronald Koeman.

Frank de Boer won 112 caps and played at two world cups for the Netherlands.

Barcelona Agree To Sell Striker Luis Suárez To Atlético Madrid

Barcelona have agreed to let striker Luis Suarez join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan agreed terms on a reduced salary with atletico after a move to Juventus fell through because of passport issues.

Reports say Barcelona chairman Josep Maria Bartomeu blocked the deal because he did not wish to sell to a Spanish rival.

But, after meeting with Suarez’s representatives, the Catalan club backed down, with the striker threatening to air his grievances to the media.
