FRSC Gets Task Force On Drivers Licence, Vehicle Number Plates

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has embarked on a mission to create a special task force for enforcement of vehicle number plates and driver’s license to sanitize driving culture in Rivers State.

The new sector commandant in the state, corps commander Salisu Galadunci said this while on a visit to the secretary to the rivers state government Tammy Danagogo in Port Harcourt.

He said the initiative would ensure the safety of lives and property for road users as well as enhance revenue generation for the state.

The sector commander also said the state now has a replacement machine centre for number plates.

Nigeria Records 575 New Cases Of Covid-19

Nigeria on Monday confirmed 575 new cases of the Coronavirus, bringing the total in the country to 29,286.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet stated that Lagos State recorded 123 new cases with the Federal Capital Territory having 100 new cases

The health agency added that 654 persons have so far died from the virus with 11,828 patients discharged.

Osun Retirees Protest Non-Payment Of Entitlements Since 2015

Retirees in Osun State under a state contributory pension scheme are protesting non-payment of their pension and gratuity for five years now.

The retirees demonstrated their displeasure with different placards, disrupted vehicular movement at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

They say the state government had refused to pay their 30 months half-salary arrears (2016 till date), non-payment of gratuities (2015 till date) and non-payment of their monthly pensions since 2015.

Leader of the protests Niyi Adefare urged the Ife monarch to assist the helpless and some homeless senior citizens to get their entitlements.

He disclosed that despite their sickness and old age, the state government had neglected them.

Nigeria Records 790 New Cases Of Covid-19, 603 Deaths

Nigeria’s total coronavirus infections have risen to 26,484 on Wednesday after the Nigeria Center for Disease Control announced 790 new cases.  The center also said more than ten thousand patients had been discharged and the death toll increased from 590 a day earlier to 603.

Delta State recorded the highest number of cases with a total of 166, followed closely by Lagos with 120 cases. 19 other states recorded new cases of coronavirus including the Federal Capital Territory.
