China, India Agree To Disengage Forces After Deadly Clash

Chinese and Indian military commanders have agreed to disengage their forces after a clash that left twenty Indian soldiers dead.

Both countries reached the agreement in their first meeting since the mid-June confrontation along the Himalayan frontier.  The face-off has been described as the deadliest between the two countries in nearly half a century.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Zhao Lijian says the two sides have agreed to take necessary measures to cool down the situation after an indepth analysis of the border control issues.

India claims twenty of her soldiers died in the fracas. Its security officials say the fatalities were caused by severe injuries, and exposure to subfreezing temperatures.

Just as the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Coronavirus crisis could set back some countries by a decade

Coronavirus crisis could set back Latin America and the Caribbean by a decade as countries endure faltering economies and rising poverty, according to the United Nations economic commission for the region and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Thousands of Chileans are withdrawing 10 percent of their pension funds because of the economic toll the coronavirus is having on their finances.

Many have been forced to stand in long queues to get the money because they do not have access to a computer or do not know how to use one.

Local municipalities have supplied buses to use as offices in order to help process as many requests as possible.

Brazil President Bolsonaro’s Wife, Minister Test Positive For Covid-19

Just days after Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro said he had overcome the Coronavirus with a negative test following weeks in quarantine, officials have on Thursday said Bolsonaro’s wife and one of his ministers have tested positive for COVID-19.

On July 7, the President who told reporters he had been diagnosed with the coronavirus, participated in his first public event on Wednesday, to recognize rural women workers, along with his wife. They were joined by Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina and the minister of women, family and human rights, Damares Alves.

Brazil’s first lady and a fifth member of President Jair Bolsonaro’s Cabinet have tested positive for the new coronavirus, officials said Thursday.

According to the statement the president’s wife appeared to be in good health, but would follow established protocols.

Earlier, Brazil’s Science and Technology Minister Marcos Pontes wrote on Twitter that he tested positive after experiencing flu-like symptoms and headache. The 57-year-old is now in isolation. The presidency’s press office said in a statement later that Michelle Bolsonaro, 38, also tested positive.

Last week, Citizenship Minister Onyx Lorenzoni and Education Minister Milton Ribeiro announced they tested positive. In March, two other Cabinet members were infected.

In Brazil, the health ministry reported 69,074 new confirmed cases and 1,595 additional deaths pushing the country past 2.5 million infections and 90,000 fatalities.

Ukraine Sees Record Daily High Of 1,197 New Coronavirus Cases

Ukraine’s council of security and defence on Thursday reported 1,197 new coronavirus cases a record daily high.

The total number of cases rose to 68,794, including 1,673 deaths and 38,154 recovered as of July 30.

Following the gradual lifting of restrictions that began in late-May the number of new daily infections has increased sharply in the past two months.
