Court Restrains INEC From Deregistering 31 Political Parties

Justice Anwuli Chikere of the federal high court, Abuja has stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from deregistering 31 political parties.

In its ruling on Monday, the court ordered INEC to stay action on the matter with immediate effect.

INEC had de-registered 74 political parties early this month, leaving only 18.

Chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, earlier said the action was carried out after a review of the performance of political parties after the 2019 general elections to see which parties qualify to exist.

Breaking: NCDC Confirms 12 New COVID-19 Cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has on Wednesday announced that 12 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country.

The health agency said in a tweet “twelve new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Osun, 2 in Edo and 1 in Ekiti State As at 12:30 pm 1st April there are 151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.”

This brings to 151 the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country with two deaths and nine have been discharged.

Coronavirus Cases Rise To 139 In Nigeria

Breaking: NCDC Confirms 12 New COVID-19 Cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed four new cases of coronavirus in the country, 3 in the FCT and 1 in Lagos.

This brings to 139 the number of confirmed cases in the country.  Two patients have died and nine have been discharged.

The NCDC said in a Twitter post on Tuesday night “four new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 3 in the FCT and 1 in Lagos,” adding that “As at 08:00 pm 31st March, there are 139 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.”

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged all security operatives to tread with civility as they enforce the total lockdown directive in the state.
