Nigeria To Battle U.S., Serbia, Mozambique For Tokyo Olympics

African basketball champions, Nigeria, will face Serbia, Mozambique and world number one, USA, in the battle for a spot at the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo.

This was revealed at a brief ceremony held in Switzerland on Wednesday to jump start the Olympics tournament qualification race.  D’Tigress will play in Belgrade after being drawn in group a.

Nigeria Basketball Federation president, Engr Musa Kida says qualification for the 2020 Olympics is possible, despite admitting it was a difficult draw.

Kida expressed the hope that D’Tigress position as reigning African champions will count when they start the qualifiers.

Rohr Accepts New Two-Year Deal To Coach Eagles

Super eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has officially agreed to terms of a new two-year contract by the Nigeria Football Federation. The Franco-German coach is set to sign the draft next week. Rohr’s current contract expires next month. When Rohr signs this new deal, he would be mandated to live in Nigeria and also watch the Nigeria Professional Football League matches to scout for home-based talents.

English Premier League Gets Government Green Light For June Return

The UK government has given a green light for the Premier League to return next month.

Matches could start first day of June, but in empty stadiums, because of the covid-19 pandemic.

Prime minister Boris Johnson says the government has now adopted a strategy aimed at gradually reopening the economy.  This includes permitting cultural and sporting events to take place behind closed doors for broadcast.

Four-time Formula-One world champion, Sebastian Vettel, and Ferrari have agreed to part ways after six years.

Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari at the end of the 2020 season.

The 33-year-old German has competed in F1 for thirteen years.
