Arsenal have announced that they have sacked head coach Unai Emery after seven consecutive winless games for the first time since 1992.
After 18 months as manager at the Emirates, Emery was sacked after worst run of results for 27 years.
The Gunners won exactly the same number of points under Emery’s 51 Premier League games as they did in Arsene Wenger’s final 51 games in charge (88points).
In a statement released by the club’s website, stated that the decision was taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.
“Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success,” the club added
The club also announced that the assistant first team coach, Freddie Ljungberg will take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach as the search for a new head coach is underway.
The Gunners were beaten 2-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday night, taking their winless run to seven matches.
IPL Cricket Set To Kick Off In UAE Amid India COVID-19 Crisis
Indian premier league starts on Saturday, but the twenty20 tournament is expected to be a welcome relief to cricket fans during the coronavirus pandemic.

It was then moved to the United Arab Emirates as cases rose in India.
All the eight teams have been in strict, bio-secure “bubbles” since landing in the UAE.
There will be no gala opening ceremony for the world’s richest t20 league, and the games will be played behind closed doors at three venues including Dubai and Sharjah.
