Sudan’s transitional military council, has announced key concessions, at a meeting held at the headquarters of the general command, of the armed forces, a day after the announcement of its formation, on Sunday, in the capital Khartoum, aimed at appeasing protesters, calling for a civilian-led transition to democracy.
The council’s spokesman, lieutenant general Shamseddine Kabbashi Ibrahim, said the resignation of the former head of the National Intelligence And Security Service, Salah Abdallah Mohamed Saleh, was accepted, and Lieutenant General Abu Bakr Mustafa will replace him.
The council reviewed the public order law. It also appointed a special committee to study the law, and submit to the council a new plan about how to take over the role and assets of the national congress, and the restructuring of the anti-corruption commission.
The council has also released activists who participated in the demonstrations that have lasted more than four months.
