Check Out All 24 Countries For 2019 AFCON Tournament

The 24 countries that will play at the AFCON finals are now clear.  They include host country Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Cameroon Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, and Ivory Coast.

Others are, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Namibia, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Benin and South Africa.

His year’s AFCON will be the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations and will be held from June to July.  This will also be the first Africa Cup of Nations that would feature expanded teams from 16 to 24.

Serena Williams Withdraws From French Open Due To Achilles Injury

Thirty-nine-year-old tennis champion Serena Williams has withdrawn from the French Open because of an Achilles injury.

Williams had been scheduled to play her second-round match against Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova.

The American has won 23 grand slam singles titles and was aiming to equal Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24.

Reports say Serena has been struggling to walk because of the injury.

Williams picked up the Achilles problem during her us open semi-final defeat by Victoria Azarenka earlier this month.

AFN Awaits WA Decision After Appeal Court Ruling

World Athletics is expected to rule on whether Ibrahim Gusau remains the president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

On Friday, the court had dismissed an appeal filed by the ministry of youth and sports development.

The AFN had been in crisis after the wing of the federation led by Gusau declared autonomy from the sports ministry last December.

Another faction led by Gusau’s vice president, Olamide George, suspended him as president.

Frank de Boer Replaces Ronald Koeman As Netherlands Coach

Frank de Boer has been given a two-year contract as Netherlands head coach to replace Ronald Koeman.

Frank de Boer won 112 caps and played at two world cups for the Netherlands.
